Introducing the New Attribute Tag System in Ramsys Stock Management

Our team is constantly working hard to improve our systems and services while also closely listening to your feedback to bring bigger and better features. That's why we're thrilled to announce a significant improvement to the Ramsys stock attributes. This update is designed to simplify the process of managing and reporting using stock attributes, making it more user-friendly and allowing for greater flexibility in data entry. Attribute tags also seamlessly integrate with Shopify, making it easier to categorise products into collections on your online store.

Attribute tags are customisable labels you create to organise and categorise your products. You can use attribute tags to create a detailed tagging system to categorise all your products or just a few tags to identify key attributes. The system provides flexibility to adapt to your specific business needs.

Ramsys used to require users to set up a hierarchical tree of attributes, which was tedious and repetitive. The system demanded attributes to be selected in a specific order for accurate reporting, which could complicate data entry and analysis.

With the introduction of the new attribute tag system, we've eliminated the need for a hierarchy. Now, attributes function as flexible tags that can be entered in any order. This innovation offers several advantages:

  • Flexibility in data entry: tags can be added in any sequence without worrying about hierarchy, simplifying the process of entering and managing stock information

  • Improved reporting: our enhanced reporting filters will recognise an attribute like "Wine" regardless of its position in the tag list, making it easier to generate insightful reports

  • On-the-fly attribute addition: when entering stock, if you type an attribute that doesn't yet exist, the system will prompt you to add it immediately - this feature relieves you from the burden of maintaining a predefined list of attributes, saving time and effort

Stock Maintenance Adding attribute tags in Ramsys

The New Way: Attribute Tags

The transition to attribute tags marks a major improvement in how stock attributes are managed within Ramsys. We believe this change will not only make the system easier to use but also empower users to generate more meaningful insights from their data. Here are the main benefits of this latest improvement:

  • Ease of use: adding and selecting attributes is now faster and more intuitive, reducing the learning curve for new users and increasing efficiency for all users

  • Reduced redundancy: by eliminating repeated attributes across similar items, the new way reduces redundancy and streamlines data management

  • Enhanced flexibility: the ability to add attributes on the fly means that you can quickly adapt to changes in inventory or business needs

To create attribute tags, go to Maintenance—Inventory/Stock—Stock Master. Stock item maintenance is centralised and managed through Ramsys Central (formerly Head Office) or, in the case of the premium POS, at the POS level. When you add or modify attributes, Ramsys automatically propagates the changes to all stores, including e-commerce.

No additional action is required; your current attributes will be converted automatically to attribute tags. This applies to both Ramsys Enterprise and Ramsys Premium versions and reflects our commitment to making Ramsys as efficient and user-friendly as possible.

The latest update makes selecting attributes faster and more intuitive. Attribute tags automatically integrate with Shopify, saving you a lot of time organising your products online and making your operation more efficient by significantly reducing unnecessary manual handling.

Create an automated collection in Shopify

If you're on the Basic Shopify plan or higher, then you can group your products into collections to make it easier for customers to find them by category. Here are a few examples of collections that you might create:

  • items of a certain type, such as red wine, French wine, or Rhône-style wine

  • items on sale

  • clothes for men, women, or children

  • items in a certain size or colour

  • seasonal products, such as holiday cards and decorations

Creating an automated collection involves defining conditions to match the products you want in the collection. Shopify collections can have a maximum of 60 conditions, including attribute tags, price, weight, stock levels, and more.

Ramsys attribute tags automatically integrate with Shopify, making it easier to sort products into collections. Watch this video and learn how to create them.
